Jo is Practice Manager; responsible for ensuring the practice runs smoothly and provides a professional service for our clients. This includes the general management of all staff and facilities which keeps her challenged!
Jo has had an extensive career in the veterinary industry which has included veterinary nursing, teaching and examining before making the move into practice management. Jo joined Synergy with the farm clients from Langport Veterinary Centre in 2012 where she had been practice manager for a number of years. She lives on a beef farm just outside Langport.
Becky joined the Synergy Reception team in June 2019 after previously working at a mixed veterinary practice.
Based at our Evershot practice she supports the rest of the team across all regions answering calls and booking vets visits.
Becky lives with her partner in Somerset and outside of work enjoys baking, cider drinking at festivals and walking with her dog.
Kate has worked in reception at Synergy since 2009 after previously working at Southfield Vets in Dorchester. Kate was involved in the development of the reception team at Synergy and is now Lead Receptionist, being responsible for the team and its service to our clients.
All our receptionists have an overview of the whole practice but have different regional responsibilities and Kate is our ‘go to’ person for all queries regarding our clients on the East side of the practice.
When not at work Kate enjoys running and keeping fit, as well as baking & cooking for her expanding family. Paddle boarding is another activity Kate has a keen interest in.
Sheila has been with Synergy Farm Health since the outset, after joining Kingfisher Vets in Crewkerne as a farm Receptionist in early 2009.
Sheila is one of four receptionists at the practice and is primarily responsible for the North & South clients, with her role involving taking client phone calls and booking in vet visits. Sheila also helps coordinate the vets weekly ‘Clinical Club Meeting’ and dealing with export administration.
When not at Synergy, Sheila spends her time with her daughter Izzy, who is keen Marshwood Vale YFC member, runs her holiday let on the family farm in West Dorset, and enjoys walking and riding.
Alice joined the reception team in April 2018 and is primarily responsible for the booking of appointments on the south side of the practice, as well as working alongside the rest of the reception team. Alice also assists with the booking of the Smallholder Annual Visits ensuring these are carried out as part of their membership.
Before joining Synergy Alice previously worked within laboratories as a laboratory technician, as well as working with the customer care team at Mole Valley Farmers.
At the weekends Alice can be found spending time with her dogs and making the occasional visit to the local pub!
Emily joined Synergy's busy reception team last December.
She is second on the East region alongside Kate, working with the day to day running of the diary, assists with the small holder memberships and has recently been assigned as social secretary.
Her family are dairy farmers in South Dorset and after six months of traveling Australia and New Zealand last year, she knew it was time to come back into the agricultural industry. When not at work she can be found helping on the farm, in the pub socialising, or daydreaming of traveling.
Jane re-joined Synergy in July 2019 as Student Warden and H & S Co-ordinator, having previously worked in the Accounts Department.
Her role as Student Warden sees her meeting and greeting students when they arrive, overseeing their accommodation and dealing with any student issues that arise.
As H & S Co-ordinator, Jane ensures compliance with Synergy's legal responsibilities throughout all their sites.
Out of work Jane enjoy gardening, looking after her various animals (she owns a smallholding), spending time with her family and taking their old tractors and 1920 Willies Overland car to various events.
Heidi is the Administration Manager at Synergy Farm Health as well as Personal Assistant to the Managing Director, Andrew Davies and the Practice Manager, Jo Masters. Heidi’s workload is split between working closely with the managing director and senior management with secretarial duties as well as managing the administration, TB and SureFarm Team.
Heidi joined the Synergy team back in 2010. Prior to this Heidi’s employment involved working for MAFF in various departments (ADAS, Milk & Dairies, Plant Health & Seed Inspectorate), the State Veterinary Service in disease control and surveillance, and APHA in the TB department.
Outside of work Heidi spends her spare time with her busy family and once or twice a week paddle boarding on the south coast.
Emma is one of Synergy Administrators and works works three days a week, with her workload consisting of almost all aspects of TB administration; processing tests and worklists, dealing with TB enquiries, registering submissions and sending results for Sure Farm Ltd etc. As well as dealing with brucellosis/anthrax investigations.
Emma has been working for Synergy Farm Health for three years after moving to the area from Berkshire. Emma previously worked as a receptionist in an equine veterinary practice which involved working closely with both clients and vets.
On the days Emma is not working at Synergy, she helps out at a stud yard looking after the mares and foals and in her spare time can be found riding the countryside on her horse and walking her dog.
With TB work increasing and it also being a major part of our business, 2016 brought the opportunity to employ another TB Administrator with Jayne Starr being the successful applicant.
Jayne deals with all aspects of TB Administration and is the ‘go to person’ for client enquires regarding legislation, date allocations and paperwork queries. Jayne also has a lot of dealings with the veterinary team regarding TB tests; providing them with all the necessary APHA TB paperwork prior to a test and also submitting tests in a timely fashion once complete. Brucellosis & Anthrax enquires would also go by Jane.
With Synergy Farm Health covering over three counties Dorset, Somerset & East Devon it is crucial our vets are able to get to farm safely and efficiently. This is where Julian comes in as Synergy’s Transport & Facilities Manager. Joining us in March 2013, Julian currently manages 30+ vehicles in the fleet coordinating servicing, MOTS, Tax and maintenance. Julian is also responsible for the practice facilities by being the contractor liaison and site coordinator.
Hayley is the Marketing Co-ordinator for Synergy Farm Health and started in August 2017. This post sees her planning marketing materials both printed, on the website and within social media platforms.
In previous roles she's had years of experience in the marketing and design field and has a Ba (hons) in Graphic Design.
Hayley is also Mum to Oliver and Edith, and in her spare time enjoys swimming, revamping furniture, and playing keyboard in a local band.
Richard is Financial and IT Controller and has been with Synergy since June 2017. He is a qualified Accountant having studied with Baker Tilly and Albert Goodman, both in Yeovil. Richard has previously held accountancy positions with Augusta Westland and Bradfords. He runs the small accounts team at Evershot that deal with all client queries ranging from price and invoice queries to supplier payment runs.
Richard is married with three grown up sons and a dog. They are a very sporty family and although too old and fragile to compete anymore Richard does enjoy Skiing and watching his sons play rugby.
Donna works 4 days a week in the Accounts Office with her workload predominately based around client invoicing, dealing with client queries and entering daily banking. Donna previously trained as a butcher before joining the farm office accounts team at Kingfisher vets in 2001 prior to the farm animal merger with Southfield Veterinary Centre to form Synergy Farm Health in 2009. She has been with us for 16 years in total. Donna is married with two children & four grandchildren and lives in the South side of our practice in Somerset.
Jade joined Synergy in April 2017 as our Health planning Co-odinator, working alongside the development of herd health plans. One year later, Jade forwarded her career with the practice by becoming Synergy’s Dispensary Manager. She now positively leads the dispensary team making sure that the service dispensary offer to our clients is efficient, consistent and smooth running. When Jade is out of the main dispensary she keeps busy with the many administrative tasks her role entails.
Prior to working at Synergy Jade joined us from a busy local veterinary practice where she was employed as a Vet Nurse in 2009, and then went on to be head nurse.
Jade lives with her partner and two young children on the east side of the practice in Cerne Abbas. In her spare time she spends a lot of her time camping, walking and flying birds of prey.
Jean was one of the inaugural employees of Synergy Farm Health starting at the formation of the practice in 2009 developing the new dispensary. Jean was previously employed at Kingfisher Veterinary Practice after a long career in veterinary nursing.
Jean is now our Stock Co-ordinator and has the unenviable task of ensuring stock is where it should be at the right time! Jean is also a qualified Animal Health Advisor (SQP) enabling her to advise clients on a range of products.
Jean lives near Chard with her busy family and enjoys genealogy, reading, gardening & walking as well as a spot of Honiton lacemaking.
John is Synergy’s Dispensary Driver and is responsible for getting clients orders to the requested medicine collection centres on a daily basis; covering almost all of our centres across the counties and ensuring orders arrive safely and on time.
John has been with synergy since it started up back up in 2009. Prior to this John spent 20 years as a CNC Driver for Printed Circuit Boards.
Out of work hours, John is a keen sea fisherman and his claim to fame is that he was once on an episode of the TV program ‘Seaside Rescue’ after falling on some rocks whilst fishing and breaking his leg! But this doesn’t put him off and is still loves spending his time at the coast.
Rachel lives in the North of the Practice with her husband and 11 year old daughter, and originally comes from a dairy farming family in Dorset. Rachel was a veterinary nurse in practice for 20 years until she had her daughter, when she needed to devote more time to her. She joined Synergy Farm health in December 2017 as a Dispensary Assistant, which involves taking orders from clients, booking and dispensing orders. She also write the feed prescriptions.
Rachel enjoys working as part of a team in Synergy dispensary, and being back in her beautiful Dorset home routes. Rachel loves Singing in two, four part choirs, and the friendship, fun and laughter this brings her.
